Airbnb Is Offering a Free Stay at Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse, Hosted by KenAs fans gear up for the theatrical release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film on July 19, Airbnb is inviting a few lucky guests to stay in a life-size version of Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse, a pink citadel on the California coast. Recently renovated and inspired by the movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the villa sports the doll’s signature neon pink varnish. High above Malibu, the vacation home overlooks the beach and reveals a uniquely playful look worthy of the iconic character. The colorful abode hosts two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Part uncanny dollhouse, part whimsical mansion, the three-story villa exudes “Kenergy,” with its gingham prints, leather cushions, and animal skin rugs. The home also boasts an infinity pool, a disco dance floor, a private theater, and a game room. I was one of those little girls fascinated with the Barbie World. The picture above brings back many memories playing with my sister and friends.
The stay is formally billed as an opportunity hosted by Barbie’s companion, Ken. While the beloved blonde Mattel character is away, her beau has the keys to the “Kendom” and welcomes fans to pick through his own wardrobe (per the press release, “Ken’s got quite the closet too!”) and even take home some memorabilia: a set of yellow and pink Impala skates and surfboards.
While the dwelling’s design is certainly eye-catching, it’s rivaled by the estate’s picturesque surrounds; the property offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and nods to the idyllic world portrayed in the cartoons.
In honor of their partnership with the film, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to Save the Children, an organization that works to “provide learning resources and support to children, families, and communities in 100+ countries to build girls’ confidence and help them excel in school.”Reservations open on July 17 at 7 p.m., with two free one-night stays offered on July 21 and 22.
